Using CMAC for Mobile Robot Motion Control
نویسندگان
چکیده
Cerebellar Model Articulation Controller (CMAC) has some attractive features: fast learning capability and the possibility of efficient digital hardware implementation. These features makes it a good choice for different control applications, like the one presented in this paper. The problem is to navigate a mobile robot (e.g a car) from an initial state to a fixed goal state. The approach applied is backpropagation through time (BPTT). Besides the attractive features of CMAC it has a serious drawback: its memory complexity may be very large. To reduce memory requirement different variants of CMACs were developed. In this paper several variants are used for solving the navigation problem to see if using a network with reduced memory size can solve the problem efficiently. Only those solutions are described in detail that solve the problem in an acceptable level. All of these variants of the CMAC require higher-order basis functions, as for BPTT continuous input-output mapping of the applied neural network is required.

Robust Sliding Mode Controller for Trajectory Tracking and Attitude Control of a Nonholonomic Spherical Mobile Robot
Based on dynamic modeling, robust trajectory tracking control of attitude and position of a spherical mobile robot is proposed. In this paper, the spherical robot is composed of a spherical shell and three independent rotors which act as the inner driver mechanism. Owing to rolling without slipping assumption, the robot is subjected to two nonholonomic constraints. The state space representatio...
متن کاملTrajectory Tracking Weeled Mobile Robot Using Backstepping Method with Connection off Axle Trailer
The connection of the tractor to the inactive trailer or motor vehicle causes a motion control problem when turning in the screw, forward or backward movements and high speeds. This is due to the inactive trailer being controlled by the tracking using a physical link that is not affected by the movement. Trailers usually take tracks under these conditions. This phenomenon is called Jack Knife. ...
متن کاملAn Associative Architecture of CMAC for Mobile Robot Motion Control
A new design scheme for the Cerebellar Model Articular Controller (CMAC) is presented in this article. The controller is designed with a content addressable memory (CAM) that replaces the function of the hash-coding method, which is adopted by the traditional CMAC and consumes much computation power in memory space mapping. Therefore, address mapping in the proposed CMAC is different from the h...
متن کاملMobile Robot Online Motion Planning Using Generalized Voronoi Graphs
In this paper, a new online robot motion planner is developed for systematically exploring unknown environ¬ments by intelligent mobile robots in real-time applications. The algorithm takes advantage of sensory data to find an obstacle-free start-to-goal path. It does so by online calculation of the Generalized Voronoi Graph (GVG) of the free space, and utilizing a combination of depth-first an...
